SI Davis members serve through community projects, fundraising, and public awareness — every program below is active, member-run, and funded by people like you.
Live Your Dream Awards: up to $5,000 for the head of a household getting an education
Our signature Soroptimist program: an annual cash grant to a woman serving as financial head of household while completing an undergraduate degree or vocational training. Since 1972 — originally as the Women's Opportunity Award — this program has distributed more than $30 million to tens of thousands of women worldwide.
SI Davis offers up to $5,000 at the local level; recipients are also eligible for additional regional and international awards. Applications are entirely online, due November 15, and available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese. Recipients are announced in January or February.
Dream It, Be It: once a month, at King High
A Soroptimist International of the Americas program offering career support for girls 14–17 — built to meet a global need for mentorship and college/career readiness. SI Davis has partnered with Martin Luther King Jr. High School since the 2015–2016 school year, meeting monthly with students to work through discovering their dreams, exploring careers, and turning setbacks into progress.

Anti-Trafficking: backpacks that support survivors
Since forming in January 2016, the SI Davis Anti-Trafficking Committee has worked to stop sex and labor trafficking of women and children in our community.
In 2025, the club donated 19 backpacks filled with clothing, toiletries, feminine products, insulated water bottles, journals, and emergency-resource cards to Empower Yolo for trafficking survivors. In January 2026, SI Davis and Empower Yolo marked Human Trafficking Awareness Month with a community event featuring law enforcement, advocates, social workers, and survivors.
High School Scholarships: a DJUSD senior's next step, funded
Each year, SI Davis invests in graduating seniors from Davis Joint Unified School District — scholarships to support their plans for college or vocational school. Recipients' dreams closely align with SIA's focus on empowering women, and with our own Dream It, Be It career mentoring program.
Hygiene Kits: hand-sewn, hand-filled, hand-delivered
Members sew the quilted, zippered bags; other members fill them with deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, and toothbrushes. The kits go directly to local women and girls escaping domestic violence and trafficking.
